I feel much better for having spoken to you
We worked with 2,686 professionals to improve their understanding of the needs of LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse.
We published three key reports: Recognise and Respond – our review of domestic abuse services for LGBT+ people; Hate Crime Report (2019) - our regular review of anti-LGBT+ hate crime in the UK; and Online Hate Crime (2019) - examining the extent of anti-LGBT+ hate crime online in the UK.
We engaged directly with 3,067 LGBT+ people to empower and educate them on their rights, how to recognise abuse, and where to get support. We also distributed thousands of resources, to reach out as far as possible into our community.
The service was fantastic. My wife and I were listened to, treated with respect and understood. The advisor was emphatic, knowledgeable and effective. Our experience was understood and validated. We were reassured and treated seriously. After months of being ignored by police and housing department which left us at the mercy of the abuser having someone who took us seriously meant a lot, gave us hope and allowed us to manage better.
You can read more about the impact of our work in our annual reports.
